Please join HIAS and immigration advocates from around the country in Washington, DC next Wednesday, April 25th as the U.S. Supreme Court hears oral arguments in a landmark case challenging Arizona's anti-immigration law, S.B. 1070. The purpose of SB 1070, as stated by the Arizona legislature, is to keep undocumented immigrants from coming into Arizona and to drive out those already in the state. HIAS joined over 100 groups in an amicus curiae brief submitted to the Court arguing that the law harms both immigrants and citizens and cannot be constitutionally applied. If the Court upholds SB 1070, it will not only jeopardize the rights of immigrants in Arizona, it will encourage and legitimize other states' attempts to pass anti-immigrant bills. See below to join the New York Immigration Coalition for a one-day trip to DC where we will meet HIAS staff and colleagues to play a role in history as we rally in front of the Supreme Court to stand up for justice and equal rights for all. The bus to DC will leave from 7th Avenue and 25th Street at 6am, and will return to NYC at approximately 6pm. Bus tickets are $32/person.
